Irlam FC wrapped up their final home game of 2025 in style, cruising to a convincing 4-1 victory over FC St Helens at Silver Street on Saturday (December 13). The win was the perfect response after a disappointing 2-2 draw on the road last week.
From the opening whistle, Irlam looked sharp and clinical. Two first-half goals set the tone, starting with an own goal from the visitors before Ethan Cartwright netted his first of the match. After the break, the hosts kept pressing forward. Declan Daniels added a third, and Cartwright struck again to seal the dominant performance.
FC St Helens managed a consolation through J. White, but it did little to change the flow of a game firmly controlled by Irlam. The 4-1 scoreline underlined their attacking efficiency.
The three points lift Irlam to fifth in the North West Counties Premier Division table with 38 points from 22 matches. Their goal difference also improves from +9 to +12—a crucial advantage in the tight play-off race. Manager John Main will be hoping this momentum carries into the next fixture.
Next up is a tough away trip to Victoria Park to face Burscough on Saturday (December 20). Maintaining this attacking edge on the road will be key if Irlam want to finish the year firmly in the promotion zone.
