Two late goals from Aldershot Town gave Altrincham a heartbreak in a National League match on Saturday, writes Adhi Prasetya.

Neil Gibson’s side took the lead at EBB Stadium thanks to Ollie Crankshaw’s stunner in the second half, but lost 2-1 after conceding two goals in the final minutes of the game.

It was Alty’s twelfth league loss, putting them in 15th place with 26 points, while the hosts grabbed their first win since September.

The match started slowly for both sides. 27 minutes into the fixture, the attempt to threaten the visitors began through Ryan Jones.

However, Luke Hutchinson saved Ryan Jones’ low-driven shot. Another chance for Cameron Hargreaves in the 33rd minute flew just over the bar.

Josh Barrett nearly gave the hosts a lead with a curled shot in the 44th minute, but once again didn’t find the net.

It was the visitors who stole the lead in the 62nd minute as Crankshaw dribbled into the box from the left past Will Nightingale and then curled the ball into the top right corner.

But Shots’ fight throughout the match didn’t go to waste as they found the net twice in three minutes to seal a comeback.

Jones’ long range effort in the 89th minute was saved by Hutchinson, but Hady Ghandour was there to pounce on the ball and tap home the equaliser.

And the cheers broke out in the second minute of added time as Tyler Frost capitalised on Shots’ fast transition with a thunderbolt to the top right corner of Alty’s goal to seal the victory.

The Manchester based outfit now wait on Telford United as the two sides are set to clash in the FA Trophy third round match at the SEAH Stadium this Saturday.
