Daisy Hill FC secured a vital away victory with a commanding 4-2 win over Maine Road in the North West Counties First Division North. The visitors dominated the first half, racing to a four-goal lead before withstanding a spirited second-half fightback from the hosts.
The match got off to a flying start when Joleon Moore headed home a pinpoint free-kick from Declan Baldwin to open the scoring. What followed was a ruthless attacking display, as Daisy Hill netted three goals in just three minutes.
Dean Singleton doubled the advantage with a composed finish after another assist from Baldwin. Moments later, Liam Sheppard struck twice in quick succession—first with a low drive from the left side of the box, then with a delightful chip over goalkeeper Alfie Brindley-Smith after latching onto a pass from Moore. The scoreboard read 4-0 with just 38 minutes played.
Maine Road responded after the break, pulling one back through Gold Badmus, who capitalised on a goalmouth scramble. The pressure continued, and Jeremie Pedro added a second for the home side, reacting quickest to a rebound after a shot struck the post.
Despite the mounting pressure, Daisy Hill’s defence held firm. In stoppage time, Sheppard came close to completing his hat-trick, only to be denied by a fine save from Brindley-Smith.
This result underlines Daisy Hill’s attacking prowess and their ability to control the game from the outset. The win also strengthens their position in the league standings.
