A decent win away from home was crucial for James McNulty’s side and the subsquent three points restored Dale’s confidence and their claim for the top position, writes Muhammad Ismail.
The match was played in the Lamb Ground, Tamworth, where Rochdale AFC were up against Tamworth. This match was a chance for the Dale to reclaim the top table position, as they just strived for three points.
In the first-half, Rochdale AFC went on to concede a yellow card in just the fifth minute of the game, when Harvey Gilmour fouled for the presentation of the yellow. The Dale went on to attack a few times, but they failed to score an early opportunity, while Tamworth were also eager to strike first for the match opener.

But no one succeeded in scoring until the 41st minute. A shot from Emmanuel Dieseruvwe deflected to Connor McBride, one more deflection went to Kyron Gordon — who hit a clean header and the goal, to achieve 1-0.
The first half concluded with a 1-0 lead for the visitors.
In the second-half, James McNulty’s side just needed to maintain the defensive line to reclaim the throne.

But in the 69th minute, a foul from Tamworth’s defender Callum Cockerill-Mollett gave the Dale a golden opportunity. Emmanuel stepped up to take the penalty, calm and composed, he struck goal to move the game to 2-0 as McNulty’s side doubled their lead.
Rochdale AFC went to the bench and brought two subs on in the 72nd minute. Tamsworth kept trying to strike before they got a chance to score in the 74th minute. A clean hit from Dan Creaney — scored the goal and closed the gap to 2-1. The home side reduced the deficit to one while they still had 16 minutes to go.
In the next few minutes, we had a few substitutions from both sides, but the scorecard remained unchanged. With the final whistle, James McNulty’s side grabbed the first position back.
