Conditions in Mossley were damp but playable, and the surface showed little sign of the morning rain as the match kicked off. The home side made a strong start, punishing the Shakers just after 20 minutes when Declan Fawns latched onto a long ball over the top to give Mossley the lead.

Bury pressed hard for a response, enjoying long spells of possession and creating several half-chances, but the host kept hold of the defensive line. The sides went into the break with the Shakers trailing by one, despite controlling much of the first-half.

Just after five minutes in the second-half, a disaster struck for Bury. A back pass from Sam Fogarty to Jack Allen held up on the wet turf, allowing Isaac Mugalula to pounce and roll the ball into an empty net, doubling Mossley’s lead in bizarre fashion.

The Shakers showed their trademark resilience and halved the deficit in the 66th minute. A superb delivery from Ben Evans was met by a flying header from Louis Isherwood, sparking renewed hope among the travelling Bury supporters.

Despite their dominance in possession and attacking intent, the hosts held out for a hard-earned victory. The results mark the second defeat in a row for Bury, who will now look to regroup quickly as they aim to reignite their promotion rush. The commitment and energy remain clear, but once again, fine margins proved costly.
