Lerone Murphy’s second main event sees the Brit compete against featherweight veteran Josh Emmett at Las Vegas UFC on ESPN 65 on April 05th.
Murphy appears to be in impeccable shape with fight week duties underway. With a contest of paramount significance beckoning, Murphy’s camp looked to be in good spirits.
Speaking ahead of his fight, Murphy noted that there are resemblances with fellow Brit Leon Edwards. Particularly, with respect to Edwards’ challenges with popularity.
Speaking exclusively to MancSport, Murphy said:
“I never get enough respect. The fans favor the people that speak, and so I’m quiet. I’m quiet, I’m a reserved guy and I believe that it’s similar to Leon Edwards. Come up, quiet, fly under the radar, but once I jump in, everyone will jump on the bandwagon then.”
Murphy acknowledged that there was a possibility that it could hinder his ability to climb the ladder quicker, but isn’t bothered by it.
He said:
“Yea, yea. It’s just, I think it comes down to personality really. Like I said, I’m more of a reserved guy and that’s just how the game works. It’s a business, isn’t it?
“If you’re a loudmouth, you get the better fights, quicker fights, quicker rise to the top, but like I said, I’m in this for the challenge. I’m not in this for clout..I’m in this to challenge myself, that’s it.

Josh Emmett: A formidable opponent for Lerone Murphy
Murphy holds an exemplary record as a martial artist, amassing 15 wins, no losses, and one no-contest. The Miracle will be looking to add another featherweight mainstay to his resume but faces a demanding test ahead of him.
He meets a worthy adversary in Emmett, who is making his return to the octagon after a 15-month hiatus. Emmett’s latest victory over Bryce Mitchell earned him global commendation.
The 40-year-old’s knockout of Mitchell earned him a ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus.
Given the high stakes of the bout, combat sports fans will be thrilled at the prospect of what is to come this weekend.
