A spokesman from Avro Football Club said they were delighted to announce that Mike Norton and David Birch have agreed to become the new management team for the 24-25 season.
The Northern Premier League Division One West side announced the news on their social media.
Chairman Rob Fuller said officials at the club were excited that the pair’s decision to take on the challenge of a second successful season in NPL Division One West, after a highly encouraging eighth place finish achieved by the club’s first ever step four campaign.
‘I am really pleased that we have managed to secure our number one targets,” said Mr Fuller.
“As soon as it became clear that Alex Frost and Phil Edghill were going to be unable to continue next season because of their work commitments, I knew who I thought would be the best fit to take the reins and push us on.
“Obviously Micky knows the club already, as he represented the club when we were in the North West Counties League.
“He understands what has made us successful, and he wants to continue with the hard work by our previous management teams.
“After meeting them both, it is not difficult to see why they have been successful in both playing and now in their managerial careers.
“I really do feel that we have secured the best men for the job, and hope the Avro faithful will get behind the lads in what is going to be an exciting new chapter in the history of the club.”
New manager Mike Norton had this to say about his decision to return to the Ro in a managerial capacity:
‘We were made aware of the situation with Edgy and Frosty a few weeks ago, and as soon as Rob sat down with us and outlined the club’s plans going forward, we knew that it was too good an opportunity to turn down.
“Of course it was a tough decision to leave Abbey Hey as we really enjoyed our time there, but we have never made any secret of the fact that we are an ambitious management team.
“Our aim now is to take Avro as high up the non-league pyramid as we can.’

Birch admitted that he was relishing the new challenge which now awaits the duo, after they had steered Abbey Hey to promotion last weekend in a penalty shoot out success against Stockport Town.
‘We were obviously delighted with how that worked out, as promotion was always our aim.
“However, the set up here at Avro is fantastic, and the passion which Rob has for the club shone through when we met him.
“There is also a great squad of players as well as an excellent backroom team, all of which means that we are really looking forward to getting going and testing ourselves at a higher level.”
