Bury FC have announced their first pre-season signing after securing 29-year-old Ruben James from NCEL side Emley AFC in a lateral move.
Ruben was the top scorer in the NCEL Premier Division last season with 39 goals taking his side to the league title.
“His career started at Southport before spells at Ramsbottom, Workington and Warrington Town. It will be the first time Rueben has played in the North West Counties League and we are excited to see him pull on the white and blue,” said a spokesman from Bury FC.
Football runs in his family, with his brother Cameron having played in the Premier League with the likes of Birmingham City and Crystal Palace.
On signing Ruben, manager Dave McNabb said: “Ruben is a player I’ve come across many times and he’s always impressed.
“He’s an all-round striker, he’s quick and powerful and can play on the shoulder, as well has holding the ball up and allowing players to play off him.
“He has a great range of finishing and is a proven goalscorer at this level and higher.”
Bury have announced other signings as well including a new number one.
